WOLVES ARE MAKING A COMEBACK IN MICHIGAN after almost being wiped out entirely by the 1950s. Wolves got a bad rap from the start being nicknamed “Devils on Earth” but thanks to protective legislation at the state and federal level wolves are back. But can man and wolf coexist peacefully? What’s in store for the wolf in Michigan? Why should we care? Dorothy McLeer, an interpretive naturalist and program coordinator at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Environmental Interpretive Center will present Michigan Wolves: Past, Present and Future at Jackson District Library – Brooklyn, 207 N. Main St. Brooklyn on Wednesday, May 21, at 7 pm.
COMING SOON
The Early Childhood Learning Center is under construction at the Carnegie building in downtown Jackson. The learning center will equip parents to be their child’s first teacher. Interactive games, books, and more will be available for parents to access during the library’s open hours. A grand opening of the Early Childhood Learning Center is planned sometime in April. Stay tuned!
Summer Reading kickoff will be Saturday, June 14. Keep that date in mind. The library will be “bugging” you about keeping your kids reading throughout the summer months.
